General Care for All Materials

  • Placement: Avoid placing your rack in direct sunlight for prolonged periods to prevent the wood from fading or warping. Keep it away from direct heat sources like radiators and fireplaces.

  • Cleaning: Regularly dust all surfaces with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth (e.g., a microfiber cloth). For deeper cleaning, slightly dampen the cloth with water and wipe the surface, then immediately dry it thoroughly with another clean, dry cloth.

  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, silicone-based polishes, or strong chemicals (like bleach or ammonia) on any part of your rack, as they can permanently damage the wood's finish and the steel's coating.

Caring for Solid Wood (Ash & Walnut)

The natural character of solid wood is what makes your GLIXO piece unique.

  • Dusting: Frequent dusting is the best way to prevent dirt and grit from scratching the surface.

  • Dealing with Spills: Wipe up any spills immediately with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Dry the area thoroughly afterwards.

  • Minimising Moisture: Protect the wood from excessive moisture, which can cause white stains or damage the finish.

  • Minor Scratches: Small scratches and scuffs can often be disguised with a matching wood marker or wax repair stick, available from most hardware stores.

Caring for Steel Components

The steel parts are coated for protection but still require care.

  • Dusting: Wipe regularly with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and prevent buildup.

  • Fingerprints & Smudges: For fingerprints, gently wipe the steel with a damp microfiber cloth and dry immediately to prevent water spots.

  • Rust Prevention: Although our steel is treated, prolonged exposure to moisture can be harmful. Ensure the rack is kept in a dry environment. If you live in a humid climate, ensure the room is well-ventilated.

Weight Capacity & Usage

  • Please adhere to the maximum weight capacity specified in your assembly guide. Overloading the shelves can cause damage to the wood and joints over time.

  • We recommend using the rack for its intended purpose: storing shoes and lightweight items like slippers or trainers.

What to Avoid
